System tags
CardOps ships with pre-configured tags for common use cases. These cannot be deleted, but you can choose not to use them.Custom tags
Create your own tags under Settings > Tags:- Go to Settings > Tags
- Click New Tag
- Enter a name and choose a color
- Click Save
Tag archiving
Instead of deleting tags (which would break historical reports), CardOps uses soft-delete:- Go to Settings > Tags
- Find the tag you want to archive
- Click the archive icon
- Don’t appear in tag selection dropdowns
- Are still visible on existing records
- Still appear in historical reports
Reporting with tags
Tags are the primary grouping dimension for P&L reports. The P&L by Tag report shows revenue, fees, expenses, and net profit grouped by your tags. This makes tags powerful for tracking profitability across:- Events — conventions, card shows
- Product lines — MTG singles, sealed product, accessories
- Time periods — Q1 inventory, holiday sale
- Channels — premium listings, clearance
Best practices
- Be consistent — pick a naming convention and stick to it
- Keep it simple — fewer, well-used tags are more useful than many rarely-used ones
- Use primary tags for the big picture — primary tags should represent your main reporting dimensions
- Use secondary tags for detail — secondary tags add granularity without fragmenting your primary reports
- Archive, don’t delete — archiving preserves historical data while keeping your active tag list clean
