# Tags

> Organize orders and expenses with tags

Go to **Settings > Tags** to manage your tags. Tags are used throughout CardOps to group and filter orders, expenses, and payouts for reporting and organization.

## Pre-configured tags

CardOps ships with 25 pre-configured tags. While you don't have to use all of them, some are **pre-mapped for imports** — meaning they're automatically applied when orders are imported from TCGPlayer or Manapool. Using these tags as-is ensures your imports work smoothly.

<Note>
  Pre-mapped tags are tied to specific import behaviors. Changing or archiving them may affect how imported orders are tagged. Check the tag details in Settings before modifying pre-configured tags.
</Note>

## Adding custom tags

You can add your own tags at any time in two places:

* **Settings > Tags** — create tags ahead of time
* **On an order or expense** — create a tag on the fly while working

## How sellers use tags

Tags are flexible. Common use cases include:

* **Collection tracking** — tag orders from a specific collection purchase to track its individual performance
* **Project tracking** — group orders related to a specific buying or selling project
* **Event tracking** — tag orders from a particular event, convention, or show
* **Category grouping** — organize by product type, condition, or any other characteristic you care about

## Tag behavior

* Every order or expense can have **one primary tag** and **unlimited secondary tags**. The primary tag is the first tag you add.
* Tags can be archived (soft-deleted) from Settings, but are never permanently removed
* Archived tags are hidden from selection but remain on historical data for reporting accuracy
