# Email Forwarding Setup

> Step-by-step instructions for forwarding platform emails to CardOps

CardOps assigns you a unique email address on the `@mail.cardops.io` domain. You set up forwarding rules in your email client so that platform notifications get sent to this address. CardOps captures the incoming emails, classifies them, and creates orders and payouts automatically.

## Step 1: Get your inbound email address

1. Go to **Settings > Integrations**
2. Find the **CardOps Inbound Email** card — your address is displayed there
3. Copy your unique inbound email address (it looks like `your-shop-name@mail.cardops.io`)

## Step 2: Set up forwarding in your email client

<Warning>
  You **must** use selective forwarding (filters) — do not forward your entire inbox. Forwarding all emails will exhaust your email processing allocation very quickly and send unrelated emails to CardOps. Only forward the specific platform notifications listed in the [Platform Rules](#platform-specific-forwarding-rules) section below.
</Warning>

### Gmail

1. Open Gmail and click the **gear icon** > **See all settings**
2. Go to the **Forwarding and POP/IMAP** tab
3. Click **Add a forwarding address**
4. Enter your CardOps inbound email address and click **Next** > **Proceed** > **OK**
5. Gmail may send a verification email to your CardOps address to verify it — CardOps captures this and you can verify it from the Received Emails list
6. Gmail may ask you to sign in to complete multi-factor authentication — follow the prompts to verify your account
7. Return to Gmail settings, refresh the page — leave **Forwarding** set to "Disabled" (do not enable the main forwarding setting here)
8. Click **Save Changes**

**Now create a filter to forward only platform notifications:**

1. Click the **search bar** > **Show search options**
2. Enter the sender or subject criteria (see [Platform Rules](#platform-specific-forwarding-rules) below)
3. Click **Create filter**
4. Check **Forward it to** and select your CardOps address
5. Click **Create filter**

### Outlook / Microsoft 365

1. Click the **gear icon** > **View all Outlook settings**
2. Go to **Mail** > **Rules** > **Add new rule**
3. Give your rule a name like "Forward TCGPlayer to CardOps"
4. Under **Add a condition**, choose sender or subject contains (see [Platform Rules](#platform-specific-forwarding-rules) below)
5. Under **Add an action**, select **Forward to** and enter your CardOps inbound address
6. Click **Save**

### Apple Mail (iCloud)

Apple Mail doesn't support server-side forwarding rules. Use iCloud.com instead:

1. Go to **icloud.com** and sign in
2. Open **Mail**
3. Click the **gear icon** > **Rules** > **Add a Rule**
4. Set conditions (see [Platform Rules](#platform-specific-forwarding-rules) below)
5. Choose **Forward to** and enter your CardOps address
6. Click **Done**

### Other email providers

Most email services support forwarding rules. Look for:

* **Settings** > **Filters** or **Rules**
* **Mail** > **Forwarding**
* **Automation** or **Workflows**

Create a rule that matches the sender/subject criteria below and forwards to your CardOps address.

## Platform-specific forwarding rules

Set up separate rules for each platform and notification type. Use these exact criteria to ensure CardOps can correctly classify your emails.

| Platform      | Notification           | From                   | Subject contains                                               |
| ------------- | ---------------------- | ---------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **TCGPlayer** | New order              | `sales@tcgplayer.com`  | `Your TCGplayer.com items of`                                  |
| **TCGPlayer** | Payout / Bank Transfer | `sales@tcgplayer.com`  | `TCGplayer.com - A Bank Transfer for Payment has been Created` |
| **Manapool**  | Payout                 | `payouts@manapool.com` | `Mana Pool Payout`                                             |

<Note>
  Subject matching is case-insensitive. Use these exact sender and subject patterns to make sure CardOps classifies your emails correctly.
</Note>

## Step 3: Verify it's working

1. Trigger a notification from one of your platforms (or wait for the next one)
2. Go to **Settings > Integrations** in CardOps
3. Check the **Received Emails** section — your forwarded email should appear within a few minutes
4. The **Type** column should show the correct classification (TCGPlayer Order, TCGPlayer Payout, or Manapool Payout)

## What gets captured

* **Sender** — who sent the email
* **Subject** — the email subject line
* **Body** — full text content (and HTML when available)
* **Timestamp** — when it was received
* **Attachments** — metadata only; attachment files can be re-fetched if needed

## Email classification

CardOps automatically classifies incoming emails:

| Type                 | Description                                    |
| -------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **TCGPlayer Order** | New order or sale notification from TCGPlayer |
| **TCGPlayer Payout** | Payment or deposit notification from TCGPlayer |
| **Manapool Payout** | Payment or deposit notification from Manapool |
| **Unknown**          | Doesn't match any known pattern                |

If an email is classified incorrectly, you can manually override the type. Open the email from your received list, then click the correct type button under "Override".

## Enabling and disabling

You can turn your inbound email on or off at any time:

* Go to **Settings > Integrations**
* Click the **Active / Disabled** toggle in the CardOps Inbound Email card
* When disabled, any new emails sent to your address are silently discarded

Your address stays the same — disabling only stops incoming emails from being stored.

## FAQ

**What happens if I send an email directly to my @mail.cardops.io address?** It will be captured and classified like any other forwarded email. However, only the defined email types (TCGPlayer orders/payouts, Manapool payouts) will be auto-classified; everything else is marked "Unknown."

**Can I forward emails from multiple platforms to the same address?** Yes. CardOps classifies each email individually based on its sender and subject.

**What if I change my shop name?** Your existing inbound email address continues working with the old shop name. If you need a new address that matches your updated shop name, reach out to the admin team on Discord.

**Can I forward my entire inbox to CardOps?** No. Use only the forwarding rules outlined above. Forwarding your entire inbox will fill your CardOps data with irrelevant emails, and we may temporarily disable your ability to receive email until the issue is fixed.
